Molnlycke Mextra Super Absorbent Wound Dressing is a non-adhesive wound dressing suitable for the management of wounds with moderate to high levels of exudate.

Mextra® Super Absorbent has a four-layer structure

The first hydrophilic wound contact layer quickly draws in and absorbs fluid, then evenly distributes the fluid to the second, polyester and viscose non-woven distribution layer. The third absorbent layer consists of a structured balance of superabsorbent particles and fibers. The former absorbs the fluid and transforms into a gel, while the cellular fibers allow the remaining fluid to pass through the superabsorbent particles. This layer also prevents the wound dressing from becoming too thick and prevents maceration of the skin around the wound due to fluid leakage. The final layer is a fluid-repellent backing layer that is vapor-permeable and allows for fluid evaporation. This layer also minimizes leakage and remains dry, thus increasing patient comfort and protecting the skin around the wound from tissue damage.
