The Adventure is the four-wheel scooter in Journey's range, built for distance rather than for lifting. Two sealed 12 volt AGM batteries make up a 24V 15Ah pack driving a 270 watt rear-wheel motor with an electromagnetic brake, and Journey rates the range at 12.4 miles per charge under ISO 7176-4 test conditions.
Assembled it weighs 96 lbs, so it is not a one-piece lift into a trunk. Instead it separates without tools into five parts, seat, battery pack, front frame, rear frame and basket, the heaviest of which is the 33 lb front frame assembly. The seat swivels and lifts off, the padded armrests pivot up and adjust for width, and a freewheel lever on the rear frame lets a helper push the scooter with the power off. Driving is by tiller: a wig-wag throttle lever for forward and reverse, a speed dial, a horn and a battery gauge, with a headlight, rear reflectors and fixed anti-tip wheels.
Not approved for air travel. The Adventure uses sealed lead-acid batteries, which airlines do not accept for mobility devices. If the scooter needs to fly, the Journey So Lite Folding Power Scooter carries a lithium battery and is FAA compliant.
Journey's manual rates the Adventure for flat, stable surfaces such as sidewalks and indoor floors, and states it is not intended for uneven terrain, steep hills or public roads. The maximum safe slope is 6 degrees, the maximum obstacle height 2 inches and the maximum gap 4 inches. Journey classes it as a personal mobility device, not a medical device or wheelchair, and does not recommend it for users under 16.
