. A handheld, manual surgical instrument designed to grasp a suture
needle while pushing/pulling the needle and the attached suture
through tissue during suturing. It has short serrated jaws at its
distal end to improve needle grip.
1) It has a self-retaining, scissor-like design with a loop
handle at the proximal end.
2) It has a tweezer-like design with curved, hinged handles
that are operated by compression.
3) It has carbide tips and scissor blades.
